Bentonite Clay Detox

For Hair, Skin & More!

Bentonite Clay also called Montmorillonite, is a beneficial clay that cleanses the body. This clay is made from minerals such as iron, sodium, calcium, potassium and magnesium, formed from volcanic ash.

Adding water to the clay gives it a negative electric charge, which in turn, assists with removing toxins from the body. It works both externally and internally.

Bentonite clay is super effective at cleansing and clarifying your hair & scalp of product buildup, dandruff, dry skin & other impurities, and it comes loaded with healthy benefits from antioxidants and mineral elements such as potassium, calcium and sodium.

Bentonite Clay

Incredibly powerful, possessing a negative charge (anionic). This makes it ideal clay for cleansing and detoxifying, as it has the ability to remove positively charged (cationic) conditioners and products that can build up on the hair and scalp. It is also said to have the ability to draw out toxins, heavy metals, chemicals, and impurities. It helps cleanse and lift impurities from the hair, aiding in conditioning, shine, softness, and definition.

Red Moroccan Clay (Rhassoul)

This natural clay originates in Morocco, and it has been used for thousands of years as a beauty elixir by Moroccan women.  Compared to other clay, Rhassoul contains larger amounts of calcium, potassium, magnesium, silica, and trace minerals; which makes it ideal for detoxifying the hair and skin.  Red Moroccan clay is a natural shampoo, it helps prevent the hair from thinning and breakage.  It also removes product build-up and is ideal for low porosity hair.

Slippery Elm

Slippery Elm, scientifically known as Ulmus Fulva. Slippery Elm is used to aid in the relief of psoriasis, eczema, dandruff and a host of skin disorders.  It can also be used on the skin to make it smooth and beautiful!

The high content of procyanidins in slippery elm improves the strength of hair and makes it tensile. Slippery elm extracts promote healthy hair growth and improve the volume of hair.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Serves as an antimicrobial agent (warding off infection), and helps ease the itching and flakiness associated with scalp conditions such as dandruff, psoriasis, and seborrheic dermatitis. ACV is also able to improve the shininess of hair and increase moisture retention by causing cuticles to lay flat via pH balancing the hair. Through this same mechanism, it is also believe that Apple Cider Vinegar can correct hair porosity issues.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has high saturated fat content, rich in vitamins and nutrients beneficial to the hair. Due to its low molecular weight, coconut is one of the few oils to actually penetrate the hair shaft. It protects and coats the hair, and prevents protein loss.

Argan Oil

Often called “liquid gold” argan oil is an organic product extracted from the kernels of the Argan tree, which is native to Morocco. It’s extremely rich in beneficial nutrients including fatty acids and vitamin E.  Where many oils and moisturizer can exacerbate skin conditions such as acne, argan oil actually soothes afflicted skin and promotes healing.

Sweet Almond Oil

Sweet Almond Oil locks moisture into the hair while nourishing, smoothing cuticles, controlling shedding, and boosting shine. It is rich in omegas 6 and 9, which help soothe the cuticle, reduce moisture loss, and improve elasticity.

Sweet Honey 2n1 Conditioner

Aids in prevening breakage and shedding and adds brilliant shine & luster to dull hair.  Honey contains antibacterial qualities to sooth dandruff, eczema & psoriasis.

Cinnamon Leaf Essential Oil

The antiviral, anti-fungal, antimicrobial and antibacterial properties of cinnamon essential oil helps in diminishing all hair related troubles including dandruff, itchiness and hair thinning

Lemon Essential Oil

Lemon essential oil has antibacterial and anti-fungal properties.  Lemon is a natural cleanser, astringent & antiseptic; and aids in reducing excessive oil on the scalp and skin.

Gourmet clay has numerous benefits:

Clay unclogs the skin pores and shrinks them

Whether you have oily skin or not, your pores will become clogged at some point. Shrinking the size of your pores can help tremendously with keeping your face clean and blemishes as bay.

Apply to your face and neck and leave it on for about thirty minutes. You will feel your face tighten slightly as the mask dries. Rinse with cool tap water and allow your skin to air dry or pat with an non-abrasive towel. Our Clay is safe to use daily.  Your skin should feel soft, hydrated and appear toned and healthy.  And don't forget to put on your lips to detox from lipsticks.

Clay helps control the overproduction of sebum

Too much oil on the skin, abnormal shedding of dead skin cells and excess bacteria generally can result in acne. You may also be prone to outbreaks if you take certain medication, produce too much sebum (a natural oil) or have a family history of acne. Blackheads or whiteheads are produced due to an excess of sebum, which cause blocks within the hair follicles on the skin. Oily skin with too much sebum encourages the production of bacteria which irritates the skin. This can result in acne.

To keep your skin soft, supple and blemish-free, use a dab of clay mixed with water directly on blemishes. Leave on overnight and repeat until blemish is gone.

Clay draws out the toxins from the skin

Bentonite clay has a very strong negative electrical charge. Since many toxins have a positive charge, the clay bonds to them. When it comes in contact with a toxin, heavy metal, chemical, or other impurity, the clay will gobble up the toxin and release its minerals for the body to use. In addition, Bentonite clay also pulls hydrogen from cells, allowing room for oxygen. This helps with circulation, and overall skin tone and health

Clay is known to be safe for all skin types

Bentonite clay cab be effective and beneficial for skin and safe, no matter how old you are. Bentonite clay is can be used for all types such as normal, oily or acne-prone skin. As mentioned, clay is packed with useful minerals and it will help detoxify while nourishing your skin feeling vital and fresh.

 Directions

  1. APPLY the mask to damp or wet hair from root to end. To ensure even coverage, work in small sections. If your hair begins to dry while applying the mask, keep a spray bottle nearby to spritz and keep the hair damp, but not dripping wet. After you've completely coated your hair with the mask, cover it with a plastic cap, saran wrap, or plastic bag for 20-30 minutes. You can use a hooded dryer or steamer for extra penetration, or just let the heat from your head do all the work. You can also leave the mask overnight for extreme dry or damaged hair.

After your mask

When you're ready to rinse, I highly recommend hopping in the shower. It will be incredibly difficult to get the clay out under the power of a sink faucet alone. Trust me, you don't want leftover clay in your curls. You'll look like you lost a fight with a bag of flour when it dries.

Once the clay is 80-90% rinsed out, follow up with The Natural Root Sweet Honey 2N1 conditioner mixed with the conditioner of your choice. Leave conditioner on for 20 minutes then rinse with cool water. You may proceed with leave-in (apple cider and water mixture is great to close your cuticles)
